GP Appraisal

Once a year all GPs have to undergo the process of appraisal. This is a structured system for recording progress towards revalidation and identifying development needs as part of personal development plans.

GP appraisers must be suitably trained in the process and apply in-depth skills and knowledge.

CHEC can provide the following support to GP appraisers and commissioning organisations:

  • Taster sessions on what it is really like to be an appraiser
  • Recruitment of new appraisers
  • Training for new appraisers
  • Manage a buddying system to ensure new appraisers have support
  • On-going support for existing appraisers through educational sessions, newsletters, on-line forums etc.
